Australia's First 'Advanced Practitioner' Awarded to Regional Practitioner

Global Diagnostics CT Services Manager, Tegan Wilde, has become the first person in Australia to be awarded the status of Advanced Practitioner by the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT).

This is a huge achievement for Tegan to be recognised as an Advanced Practitioner, which is defined as a professional who fulfils all aspects of the expectations for the ASMIRT Certified Practitioner plus excellence in clinical practice, work place leadership, post graduate education and research development. The Advanced Practitioner recognises their practice as holistic and is able to draw appropriately upon all aspects of their expertise to provide optimal, expert, and contextual patient care.

Advanced clinical practice embodies the ability to manage clinical care in partnership with individuals, families and carers. It includes complex problem solving across a range of clinical settings, enabling innovative solutions to enhance people’s experience and improve patient outcomes.

"It’s great to have formal recognition for the further studies I’ve completed with my Master’s Degree and other duties I do in my job as Senior Medical Imaging Technologist. There are many others working in Australia that do as much, if not more than I do, and I hope this gives them inspiration to apply and be recognised also for what they do."

Having such an experienced Technician like Tegan working at South West Health Campus is an asset for regional healthcare.
